Report - 2026 Summer Grading: WKB Canada Continues to Grow
The Annual WKB Canada Summer Grading: A Celebration of Karate Excellence
The annual WKB Canada Summer Grading brought nearly 50 karateka together on the mats at the Contact Kicks Martial Arts (CKMA) Mississauga dojo. Led by Shihan Steve Fogarasi (5th Dan), Branch Chief for Ontario, the examination marked one of the largest grading events to date for our organization, with students traveling down from the Barrie dojo to test alongside their Mississauga teammates.
A Rigorous Test of Skills
Candidates were evaluated from 10th Kyu (orange belt) all the way up to 1st Kyu (brown belt). In authentic Kyokushin Karate tradition, the test was a thorough assessment of stamina, technical proficiency, and fighting spirit. The candidates started with an exhaustive physical conditioning test of push-ups, sit-ups, and squats before transitioning directly into kihon (basics) and kata (forms). The examination concluded with the kumite (sparring) test, where students had to demonstrate composure, conditioning, and heart under heavy fatigue on a hot summer day.
Upholding Traditional Standards Through Growth
WKB Canada continues to see steady growth across our dojos, but expansion never comes at the expense of our standards. Kyokushin is built on discipline, integrity, and perseverance. Every rank awarded must be earned through hard work, technical precision, and the willingness to push past physical comfort. As our community expands, preserving these core values remains our highest priority.

An event of this scale requires teamwork. Thank you to all the dojo members, parents, and families whose ongoing dedication makes our community strong. We extend sincere appreciation to all the brown belts and black belts who assisted on the grading panel, closely observing technique, recording notes, and ensuring the examination was held to the highest standard.
