About WKB Canada, Ontario Branch
Who we are
Shihan Steve Fogarasi began his Kyokushin journey in 1986 in Romania. He earned his 1st and 2nd Dan under Kancho Shokei Matsui and his 3rd and 4th Dan under Hanshi Steve Arneil, receiving the title of Shihan and promotion to 5th Dan in 2021.
A veteran of many full-contact knockdown tournaments across Europe and North America — including the 2001 European Kyokushin Championships and the 2001 All American Open — he has been teaching Kyokushin for close to 40 years, in Canada for 16 years across two active dojos in Barrie and Mississauga, Ontario.
The Ontario Branch conducts official WKB gradings, seminars, and events in accordance with WKB international standards.
All ranks issued through the Ontario Branch are recognized worldwide by the WKB.
What we stand for
We believe Kyokushin Karate is more than a sport or a fitness activity. It is a lifelong practice that develops character, discipline, and a deeper understanding of oneself.
We approach the art with honesty, respect, and an open mind — welcoming practitioners of all levels and backgrounds who share that perspective.
We value the relationships we build within our dojo community and with our affiliated partners.
We work collaboratively, support one another's growth, and hold the traditions of Kyokushin in high regard while remaining open to learning and evolving as instructors and martial artists.

Joining WKB Canada — Ontario Branch
We welcome inquiries from independent dojos and instructors who are interested in becoming part of the WKB Canada family. Affiliation with the Ontario Branch connects your dojo to a respected international organization and a community of like-minded Budoka across 40 countries.
How affiliation works
We believe in keeping things simple and transparent. There are no surprises.
- Affiliated dojos and instructors do not pay a yearly license or affiliation fee.
- Dojos keep their own testing fees — WKB Canada only charges the cost of the official certificate we provide. A standardized grading fee structure applies equally to all affiliated dojos.
- Students pay a small annual membership fee directly to WKB Canada.
- Every student receives an official WKB BudoPass and a lifetime WKB membership card — tangible recognition of their rank within a globally respected organization.
- Students can purchase the official WKB Grading Syllabus directly from WKB Canada Headquarters - CKMA Dojo.
What affiliated dojos receive
- Globally recognized WKB rank certificates, custom black official WKB black belts and grading authority.
- Direct support from Shihan Steve Fogarasi for technical guidance and curriculum development.
- The ability to host official WKB-sanctioned gradings and events.
- Participation in regional, national, and international WKB tournaments and seminars.
- Official listing as a WKB Canada affiliated dojo within the international WKB network.
- Access to a supportive community of Kyokushin instructors and practitioners across 40 countries.
We are open to working with dojos at any stage — whether you are newly established or have been teaching for many years. If you share a genuine passion for Kyokushin and are looking for a principled, friendly organizational home, we would be glad to hear from you.
