STEVE FOGARASI

Shihan 5th Dan
WKB Canada - Ontario Branch Chief | Founder of CKMA

Shihan Steve Fogarasi is a globally recognized Kyokushin instructor and the Ontario Branch Chief for World Kyokushin Budokai (WKB) Canada. With nearly 40 years of experience, he is a central figure in the international karate community, dedicated to preserving the standard of the "Strongest Karate" across the GTA and Simcoe County.

A Legacy of Dedication

Shihan Steve’s journey began in 1986 in Romania. Training under a regime where martial arts were restricted, he developed an iron will that led him to open his own dojo at just 18 years old—making history as the first Kyokushin school in his hometown of Ludus.

World-Class Pedigree

Throughout his career, Shihan Steve has trained under the world’s most esteemed masters, including Kancho Shokei Matsui and Hanshi Steve Arneil. A veteran of over 20 full-contact knockdown competitions, his expertise is rooted in real-world application and high-level technical precision.

Ranks & Honors:

  • WKB Canada - Ontario Branch Chief: Appointed representative for World Kyokushin Budokai.

  • 5th Dan Black Belt: Honored with the title of Shihan in 2021.

  • 1st & 2nd Dan: Tested under Kancho Shokei Matsui (IKO).

  • 3rd & 4th Dan: Awarded the title of Sensei by Hanshi Steve Arneil (IFK).

Today, Shihan Steve personally oversees the curriculum at both Contact Kicks Barrie and Mississauga, ensuring every student receives authentic training directly from a world-class Shihan.

MICI FOGARASI

Senpai Mici Fogarasi is the co-founder of Contact Kicks Martial Arts and a dedicated Kyokushin instructor. Since beginning her path in 2006, she has been instrumental in the growth of CKMA, fostering a training environment built on discipline, technical precision, and the "Never Give Up" spirit of Kyokushin.

A Legacy of Training

Senpai Mici began her Kyokushin journey in Denver, Colorado. Over the past two decades, she has transitioned from a dedicated student to a formidable instructor and competitor. She has tested her skills in full-contact Kyokushin tournaments across North America, representing CKMA on the mats in Rochester, NY, and Montreal, Canada.

A Holistic Approach to Health

In addition to her martial arts expertise, Senpai Mici is a qualified Holistic Nutritionist. She is deeply passionate about the transformative power of Kyokushin and healthy living, helping students of all ages achieve their goals through a combination of traditional discipline and proper wellness practices.

Ranks & Achievements:

  • 2nd Dan Black Belt: Successfully tested in 2019.

  • 1st Dan Black Belt: Earned in 2011 in Toronto, ON.

  • Qualified Holistic Nutritionist: Integrating total body wellness with martial arts training.

  • Full-Contact Competitor: Veteran of regional and international Kyokushin knockdown tournaments.

 

 

CHRIS WHARTON-HOOD

Sempai Chris is a martial arts veteran with over 30 years of experience and a deep technical background in both striking and grappling. As an Assistant Instructor at the Mississauga Dojo, he provides students with a well-rounded perspective on combat, rooted in decades of high-level practice.

The "Striker-Grappler" Edge

Senpai Chris holds the prestigious rank of Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ), as well as his 1st Dan in Kyokushin Karate. This rare combination of expertise allows him to teach the principles of leverage and ground control alongside the powerful, knockdown striking of Kyokushin. For Chris, Kyokushin remains the ultimate stand-up discipline due to its unparalleled emphasis on mental toughness and focus.

A Commitment to Resilience

Since the early 1990s, Chris has trained in various elite styles, including Ashihara and Muay Thai, before returning to his true passion: Kyokushin. He is dedicated to helping CKMA students develop the physical resilience and humility required to succeed both on and off the mats.

Senpai Alexey is a seasoned martial artist with over 35 years of experience. A dedicated practitioner and mentor, Alexey combines his decades of Kyokushin training with his professional background as a Paramedic, bringing a unique perspective on resilience and calm under pressure to the dojo.

A Lifetime of Discipline

Senpai Alexey’s journey began at age 13, building a foundation that eventually led him to the forged spirit of Kyokushin. Today, his training is supplemented by advanced calisthenics, ensuring he remains a prime example of the speed, flexibility, and functional power required in the "Strongest Karate."
