19 Years of Spirit: Our 2026 New Year Kick-Off
Osu everyone!
This past weekend was a very special one for our community as we held our annual "Kicks for the New Year" challenge. The mats were filled with energy, making it the perfect way to kick off 2026.
A Heartfelt Tradition
This tradition holds a special place in my heart. Senpai Mici and I started this event 19 years ago, and since that very first day, we have hosted this challenge every single year without a break. Through every high and low, we’ve remained committed to this tradition because we believe that consistency is the key to everything we do in Kyokushin.
Two Dojos, One Family
While the event was hosted at our Mississauga dojo this year, I was incredibly proud to see a group of our Barrie students make the trip down to join us. It truly exemplified that we are one big family, no matter which dojo we call home.
Inspiring Moments on the Mats
It was inspiring to look across the mats and see:
Our youngest students, some only 7 years old, giving it their all.
Our veterans, many over 50, pushing themselves just as hard.
Everyone working through the sweat with a smile on their face.
A Message of Commitment
We work hard during this challenge, but we always make sure to have fun. My hope—and Senpai Mici’s hope—is that by witnessing our commitment to this event for 19 years, you feel inspired to stay committed to your own goals. Whether it’s in your karate journey, your schoolwork, or your career, showing up is the first step toward greatness.
Thank you to everyone who stepped onto the mats. Your discipline and hard work are what make Contact Kicks so special.
