Six years in Barrie. Forty years on the dojo floor.
Barrie's only authentic Kyokushin dojo.
Contact Kicks has been part of the Barrie community for 6 years. Shihan Steve Fogarasi, 5th Dan and WKB Canada Branch Chief, has been teaching Kyokushin in Canada for 16 years. His wife, Senpai Mici Fogarasi (2nd Dan), teaches alongside him. Their own children train also with them.

This is not a franchise or a belt factory. It is a family-run dojo where students stay for years because the instruction is the real thing. Every belt and certificate earned here is officially recognized worldwide through the World Kyokushin Budokai (WKB), active in over 40 countries.

No long-term contracts. No pressure. Your first class is free.
KIDS KARATE
Kyokushin builds more than physical fitness.
Children who train here learn to focus, handle frustration, and earn every belt through real effort — not just attendance. Parents regularly tell us the changes carry over into school and home life within the first few weeks.
If two or more children from the same family enroll, parents train for Free.

The "First Class" FAQ
-
Do I need a uniform (Gi) to start?
"No. For your first trial class, wear comfortable workout clothes — a t-shirt and track pants are fine. If you decide to continue, a free uniform is included with your first month."

-
Is it safe for beginners?
"Yes. Safety and respect are the foundations of the dojo. Beginners follow a structured curriculum focused on basics and conditioning before progressing to more advanced training. You will be challenged, but always in a supervised, controlled environment."

-
What if I am not in shape?
"You don't get in shape to start Kyokushin — you start Kyokushin to get in shape. Shihan Steve and Senpai Mici meet every student at their current level, whether you are an athlete or haven't trained in years."

-
Is there an age limit?
"Kids classes start at age 6. Teens and adults train from age 12 with no upper limit. It is never too early to start, and it is never too late."

What People Say

"The instructors focus not only on proper technique and discipline, but also on building confidence, respect, and a positive attitude in every student. My daughter always looks forward to her classes, and we've seen remarkable improvement in her strength, focus, and overall confidence."
— Anju Vida, Parent

"Having the opportunity to train provides those opportunities and has enhanced my mental clarity that extends far beyond the dojo. If you're interested in martial arts but uncertain about Karate — give Kyokushin a try at CKMA and you won't be disappointed."
— Christopher Clayden, Adult Student
