The Noars : Michael, Debby and Sofie

From Michael Noar, 14 years old blue belt.

- Last night before class I felt like I didn’t want to do anything, I didn’t want to go to karate because I felt tired and I had a headache. I have a lot of things on my plate like a big assignment that I need to get done for school. I ended up going to the dojo because my mum encouraged me to go to the dojo and go train. I still didn’t want to go but I went anyway. When we got to the dojo, I had a talk with Sensei about me not wanting to train because I was too tired. Sensei said that at my age I shouldn’t be giving up training only because I feel tired. If my mind is strong , I can do anything, he said. We began to train and it was a small class. I was still feeling tired but when a couple of more people came in I felt I should try harder. Then Sempai Baker made a joke about going outside in the snowstorm barefoot to train and Sensei said that was a good idea. I thought they were joking. It turned out to be something legit. At first I was nervous that I was going to freeze and “why did I agree to do this?” When we were outside it was really cold my feet were freezing. I tried my hardest. I was feeling great. I told myself that I can do something that I have never done before. It went by really fast. When it was over I felt stronger, proud of myself, and happy. I would definitely try something like that again. I learned that I was able to persuade myself to do something I didn’t want to do. And in the end I got to do something really special and new. And I got a good laugh together with my family and kyokushin brothers ! Osu !
