What is Kickboxing?

 

 Kickboxing is a modern martial art and combat sport which can be practiced for health & fitness, self-defense, or competition. The techniques taught in kickboxing include punches, kicks and knee strikes from the standing position. 

Kickboxing style training looks at all techniques equally, and favors combinations and forward pressure. 

 

The fast pace of Kickboxing is ideal for training for fitness or for fighting.

You are not required to spar, and if you simply wish to train for fun and fitness that’s okay. If you do chose to spar you’ll be invited to join in once you have mastered the basics.

Kickboxing at CKMA

 

At Contact Kicks in Vaughan, we practice semi and full-contact Kickboxing under K-1 rules..

The hand techniques are modified boxing strikes and the kicks are based on Kyokushin Karate. We practice drills with pads and shields, partner workout and bag workout based on the Dutch numbers system. We also incorporate  the discipline and "The Spirit of Osu" (The Japanese Spirit of Perseverance) from Kyokushin Karate!

 

It doesn’t matter your age or physical shape. CKMA offers classes and one-on-one private training sessions for men and women of all levels of experience who are interested in a fun work-out and all the benefits that come with a Kickboxing lifestyle.

Is Kickboxing for me?

 

 Kickboxing has various benefits for the mind, body and spirit. The training sessions are designed to increase students' strength, endurance, flexibility, agility and coordination, while practicing fighting techniques in a fun and safe environment.

 

Aside from being a great combative sport, the combination of martial arts techniques and heart-pumping cardio, Kickboxing is a high-energy workout that is guaranteed to burn calories and fat.
 

Not only is kickboxing a great work-out, but it also helps students develop better focus and self confidence, which has a great positive impact in all aspects of life. From personal like to the office or school.
